Mission Statement

The University Library is the center for information competence of the Medical University of Graz. As an academic library, it provides information and learning resources and offers a wide range of services to promote and expand the knowledge of its users.

The University Library focuses on users and their needs, especially on members of the Medical University of Graz. At the center of the University Library are the users and their needs, especially the members of the Medical University of Graz. As a library with a public mission, it is open to everyone who is interested in scientific medical information.

The University Library of the Medical University of Graz is a modern knowledge and information organization:

  • It acquires and provides digital and analogue media,
  • offers learning objects and interactive forms of learning
  • provides functional interior design and technical infrastructure
  • imparts information and media skills
  • supports free access to scientific information (open access)
  • creates a pleasant and productive learning environment
  • maintains a lively exchange with its users
  • and accommodates its visitors with long opening hours.

Personal contact and communication with users are very important to us. For us, the profession of librarian/information specialist is a vocation that we pursue with joy and commitment every day. To be able to guarantee a high quality of service, the University Library takes care of comprehensive training and further education for its staff. The University Library is constantly expanding its services, developing new ideas and realizing projects in cooperation with a wide range of partners.

OBVSG - Austrian Library Network

The Austrian Library Network is the academic library network of Austria. You can search the entire holdings of Austria's academic libraries using their joined search engine.

Styrian Library Network

Cooperation agreements between the University Librarys in Styria allow mutual use of the libraries and their media. Students and staff of the Medical University of Graz can register for the following other library’s trough MEDonline:

KEMÖ - Cooperation E-Media Austria

The University Library of the Medical University of Graz is a member of the Austrian Cooperation E-Media. E-resources are collectively licensed and purchased through KEMÖ.

AGMB - Association for Medical Libraries

The "Arbeitsgemeinschaft für medizinisches Bibliothekswesen" is an association that promotes medical information in libraries, organizes joint projects and produces expert reports.
